Committee of the energy and trading U.S. sent letters to several companies about the issue of data tracking the user's location on Tuesday (26/04/2011),
The issue of tracking a user's location data by google and apple. Commerce and Energy Committee of the United States, which also handles privacy issues, sent a letter to 6 operating system development company Google, Apple, Microsoft, Nokia, Research in Motion (RIM), Hewlett-Packard (HP). The letter was stamped signature Committee Chairman Fred Upton and four other members of the sub-committee. the letter asked for clarity on the issue of tracking the user's location.
In the version of the letter sent to Apple CEO Steve Jobs, asking, what location data to track, used or stored and why these devices to track, use, store or share data.
Reported by the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday (26/04/2011), the Committee requested that all questions were answered in writing before May 9, 2011.
As is known, a user track record is noisy talking on smartphones since the iPhone is rumored to secretly record the movements of their users wherever they go.
Findings security researcher Pete Warden is now growing and questioned the possibility of smartphones than the iPhone do that too. Research differs on Android-based phone, there are also known to practice this surveillance.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs, has reportedly denied it through a reply email a customer who asked him directly. But still, the answer is not yet certain as an official confirmation from Jobs.

then Microsoft confirmed that details the movement of the user is logged in Windows 7 Phone mobile phone, but is saved to storage owners WP7 own account, based on the last location they are located.
Nokia through his spokesman mentions only the location data stored in the phone, sent or collected when users choose to use the service. While HP and RIM have not been responding to this issue.
